Sixteen months and two graduations later, I thank the Flint Salvation Army for showing me how to get my life back together, as well as how to put God first in my life. My journey through recovery began on December 16th, 2010. I worked hard for those first six months and learned patience. I also spent a majority of my time thinking about how to get my family back in my life and keep them. I ended up leaving the Salvation Army and after just two months I found myself back.

On September 9th, 2010 I returned to rehab and stayed for a year this time. I had another set back, but I did not let that stop me. I was vigilant and focused on my ultimate goal - getting sober and staying that way. I entered the center for a third time. After months of hard work, I was moved into a new department called "Store Supply." I did so well at that job that it was made into a paid position. On July 25th, 2012 I graduated and on July 30th I began working as a Salvation Army employee. I am very grateful to those who kept faith in me and helped me through the rough times.
