Real Recovery at the Waukegan ARC

Filling the Void in my Heart

Wallace Berry was raised in a single parent home.  His mother did her best to provide and be the best parent figure for him, but by the time he was 17 years old he had started using drugs and ended up in jail.  This occurred throughout his life until finally at the age of 40 he grew tired of this lifestyle.  He surrendered to God for change which led him to The Salvation Army, a place where he fell in love with The Lord and learned a new lifestyle.  Wallace graduated from the program and became an employee of The Salvation Army. His heart is now filled with the Lord and he is grateful for the new life God has provided for him.

Positive Change

At the early age of 14 years old, Dean DeBiase Jr.  would often go to his friend's house and drink alcohol for fun. He is now 21 and his addiction has caused him legal problems such as his driver's license being revoked and being put in jail. It has also created a big wound for his family.  He states "The only other place for me if I continued down this path was six feet under." The Salvation Army was a real  answer for him because he needed God in his recovery. Dean now feels like he is on his way and is really pointed in the right direction.
