JOB TITLE:                         STORE SUPERVISOR

REPORTS TO:                     ADMINISTRATOR                         

FLSA STATUS:                   EXEMPT

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the management, sales, merchandising, pricing, inventory levels, staffing, training, resolving or assisting in the resolving of employee disciplinary issues, reporting, auditing and overall efficient and effective operation of the Center stores on a day to day basis.  The Store Supervisor is to ensure that the above operations comply with federal and state statutes and are performed within The Salvation Army’s policies and procedures. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:           This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive.  It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position.  The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.

 

Responsible for the overall safe, legal and cost effective operation of the ARC stores.

Responsible for keeping all Center stores clean, safe and secure, ensure employees and beneficiaries use proper lifting techniques and a forklift or pallet jack is used for items weighing over 50 pounds, ensure improper relationships do not develop between employees and beneficiaries, and all employees perform their job requirements within established criteria.

Responsible for ensuring that all stores are staffed effectively and efficiently to ensure successful operation of the Center stores within budgetary constraints.

Responsible for maintaining sales records and review those sales records for trends and take appropriate actions in response to those trends.

Utilize social media (Facebook, Twitter, ect) to disseminate news, information sales, and marketing related to our Family Stores.

Responsible for achieving established sales quotas.

Responsible for recruitment, training and assignment of store personnel.

Submits timesheets and other payroll information, on all store personnel under his/her control, for the timely processing of payroll on a bi-weekly basis.

Submits daily sales reports to the bookkeeper on a timely basis.

Responsible for regular inspections of all stores which includes but is not limited to regular audits of cash, register checks, reconciliation of cash, review of staffing levels, review of sales, merchandising, store organization and store cleanliness.   The administrator should receive reports of the inspections.

Coordinate with the Director of Operations, Production Supervisor and Shop Foreman merchandising needs of the stores.

Responsible for ensuring proper store inventory levels are maintained, product is fairly priced and properly displayed in all stores.

Supervise the shipping room and coordinate deliveries to all stores with the Supervisor of Transportation, Dispatcher, or Dock Foreman.

Responsible for scheduling, organizing, planning agenda and conducting meetings with all store managers on  a monthly basis.

Responsible for attending and participating in all weekly staff meetings.

Responsible for training and supervising day clients under the sponsorship of outside agencies.

Responsible for resolving, or assisting in resolving, problems relating to employee and beneficiary disciplinary issues.

Maintains a good relationship with employees and assist in resolving various complaints or concerns in the various areas under his/her control.

Responsible for knowing and ensuring that all policies and procedures, related to the Store Supervisor position, are adhered to.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with vendors, donors, customers, beneficiaries, co-workers and management.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other duties as required by the Administrator.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer        General Office Equipment      Forklift

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED and two years of experience in retail sales and/or merchandising or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of Store Supervisor.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid Texas Opeators Licenses

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.

Ability to read and comprehend manuals and written instructions.

Ability to apply attention to detail and to perform assigned work with minimal errors and within established time constraints.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of general supervision and management of personnel. 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.

Ability to operate general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, computer and adding machine.

Ability to successfully interact with a variety of personalities, to include, but not limited to: subordinates, peers, all levels of management, customers, and beneficiaries.

Moderate physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, 75% to 100% of the work time and carrying light to heavy  objects (usually less than 50 lbs.) 25-75% of the work time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed at the stores in the field where there could be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
